How to Identify a Spiritual Attack — and Strike Back

There’s a moment when things stop feeling like bad luck.

The job falls through. The relationship cracks for no real reason. You wake up exhausted after a full night’s sleep. Your thoughts turn dark and strange — thoughts that don’t even sound like you. Your body feels heavy. Your home feels off. Like something moved the furniture two inches in every direction and you can’t prove it but you know.

That’s not a rough patch. That’s something being done to you.

Spiritual attacks are real. They’ve been real across every culture, every century, every continent. Witches know this better than anyone — because witches are often both the target and the ones who know how to fight back.

So let’s talk about how to spot one. And then how to end it.

First — How Do You Know It’s an Attack?

The tricky thing about spiritual attacks is they’re designed to look like your own life falling apart. That’s the point. A well-thrown curse doesn’t announce itself.

But there are signs.

It came on suddenly. One week everything was fine. Then something shifted and nothing has worked since. Pay attention to timelines. Sudden changes in luck, health, or mood that have no obvious cause are a red flag.

It follows a pattern. Not just bad luck — specific bad luck. Always money. Always love. Always your sleep, your confidence, your voice. Targeted misfortune has a shape to it.

You feel watched or followed. Not paranoia — something quieter and more certain than that. A presence at the edge of your awareness. Shadows that move wrong. Animals that react to nothing you can see.

You found something. An object left near your door. Dirt on your porch. A knotted cord tucked somewhere strange. A dead bird. Something that wasn’t there and then was. These aren’t coincidences. Someone put them there.

Your dreams changed. Nightmares with teeth. Being chased. Drowning. Figures standing at the foot of your bed. Dreams that leave a residue on you when you wake.

You feel it in your body. Pressure in your chest. Headaches that start at the base of your skull. Nausea with no medical cause. A coldness that moves through you in warm rooms.

And perhaps most telling — people who know you are noticing. Your friends say you seem different. Your partner says you’re not yourself. Even your pets are giving you distance.

Trust that.

Before You Strike Back — Do This First

Before anything else, you need to clear the field.

Remove anything that was left for you. If you found an object — buried near your door, tucked under your mat, hidden somewhere in your home — do not bring it inside if you haven’t already. Use gloves or a cloth. Wrap it in black cloth or foil. Take it off your property and bury it at a crossroads or throw it in moving water. Return what was sent without carrying it on your skin.

Cleanse your space. Open windows. Burn black salt, dragon’s blood resin, or white sage and move counterclockwise through every room. Pay attention to corners, doorways, and anywhere you feel heaviness. Speak out loud as you go — not a formal spell, just your intention stated plainly. This is my space. What doesn’t belong here leaves now.

Cleanse yourself. A bath with sea salt, hyssop, and lemon. Soak in it. Let the water sit on your skin. Then shower it off moving downward — you’re washing it off you, not sealing it in. Burn a black candle for yourself afterward and let it burn all the way down.

Don’t skip this part. You can’t fight clearly while you’re still carrying whatever was thrown at you.

Now — Strike Back

Once you’re clear, you have options. And your options depend on what you want.

Return It to Sender

This is the most direct path. You’re not cursing them — you’re simply refusing the delivery and sending it home.

Get a mirror — a small hand mirror works fine. Write your name on the back in red ink and the word return. Anoint it with your own saliva (your essence, your signature). Set it face-out in your window or facing your front door. Everything that comes at you now reflects back.

You can strengthen this by setting a black candle in front of the mirror and burning it while you say plainly: What was sent to me, I do not keep. It finds its maker and goes home to sleep. Simple is fine. Mean it.

Bind Them

If you know — or strongly suspect — who did this, binding stops them from continuing without sending anything back their way.

Write their name on a piece of paper. Fold it away from you. Place it in a small jar with black thread wound around it, cloves, and salt. Seal the jar and put it in your freezer. They are stopped. Their ability to harm you is frozen.

This is protection, not punishment. It simply closes the door.

Break It at the Root

Some attacks are heavy — layered, built up over time, or attached to something old in your lineage. For those you need to go deeper.

Take a black cord and tie nine knots in it while you name what’s been happening — each knot is one thing the attack brought. Ailment, confusion, loss, fear — name them. Then burn the cord in a fireproof dish and let it become ash. Take the ash off your property and scatter it in a place where water flows.

You’re unraveling it. Knot by knot. Systematically.

Call In Backup

You don’t have to fight alone.

If you work with ancestors, call them in. Set water out for them. Light a white candle. Tell them what’s happening. Ask them to stand around you. Ancestors have a fierce love — they don’t like watching their people suffer what can be stopped.

If you work with spirits, guides, or any being you have a genuine relationship with — this is the time to ask for active help. Not passive protection. Active help. There’s a difference.

After the Work — Hold Your Ground

The work doesn’t end when the candle does.

Reinforce your home. Black tourmaline at the corners. Salt lines at your thresholds. A protection jar — salt, rosemary, iron nails, your hair — buried at your front door or placed beneath your bed.

Anoint your doorways with protective oil (frankincense, black pepper, and olive oil works fine) drawn inward, pulling protection toward you.

And keep your eyes open. Attacks sometimes come in waves — the first working clears one layer and then you feel it again lighter, thinner. That’s normal. Work it again. Each time it loses ground.

One Last Thing

Spiritual attacks work partly because they make you feel powerless. That’s by design. The heaviness, the confusion, the sense that nothing will ever work again — that’s not just a side effect. That is part of the weapon.

So the first act of striking back is simply deciding that you are not powerless.

You know what this is. You know how to name it. You know what to do.

That’s more than whoever threw it at you wanted you to know.

Now go work.
