The infamous mummified skeleton, nicknamed “Ata,” which measures just six inches in length and exhibits peculiar features unlike modern humans, has long been a subject of intense debate and speculation. Initially discovered in 2003, encased in a leather pouch within a deserted church in Chile’s Atacama Desert, the strange remains were initially theorized to be potential evidence of extraterrestrial life due to their diminutive size and anomalous traits, such as an elongated skull, slanted eye sockets, and absence of kneecaps.

However, according to researcher Ramón Navia-Osorio Villar, who acquired the skeleton from its original finder, Oscar Muñoz, a compelling new theory has emerged. Navia-Osorio believes that Ata’s remains belong to a previously unknown race of tiny cave-dwelling humans who coexisted with the Aymara people in South America centuries ago.

In a recent appearance on the Spanish TV show “Fourth Millennium,” Navia-Osorio dismissed the extraterrestrial hypothesis, stating, “This creature was not extraterrestrial, it was terrestrial.” He explained that his theory is supported by accounts from Aymara tribe members, who claim that such diminutive beings once lived alongside their ancestors before the arrival of Spanish settlers.

“They were very small people who lived in caves and only came out at night, hence its strange almond-shaped eyes,” Navia-Osorio elaborated. “A native friend from the Aymara tribe told me that these beings used to live with their ancestors before the Spanish settlers arrived.”

Previous studies are said to have established the remains – measuring just six inches – were not a human foetus but a fully formed being

While previous DNA analysis suggested Ata was a human fetus with genetic mutations, a subsequent study by an international team of experts in human anatomy and skeletal development refuted those findings, concluding that there was no evidence of the claimed anomalies.

As the debate surrounding Ata’s origins continues, Navia-Osorio’s theory offers a tantalizing possibility – that this mummified skeleton may be the last remaining evidence of a long-forgotten race of tiny cave-dwelling humans who once walked the Earth.
